Our History

The Green Shop came into being as we found that there was just too little which is 'green' available in our beautiful country. The intention of TGS was to source and offer products which were eco-friendly in one way or another. It's no small task as these types of products are not as common as you would think. We are constantly looking for locally made products but also supplement the range with goodies from abroad.

Greg Walton started The Green Shop as an online store in 2009 and after a few short months opened the first physical shop in Long Street, Cape Town. The general feedback from customers was that they were intrigued and delighted that new and exciting products were avaialble in South Africa and a move to a higher profile store in Cape Town's Cape Quarter was done. Boksburg was next, Pretoria and Benoni are looming....
